Editing Services

Completing a first draft is only the first hurdle in the writing process. I offer a variety of editing services, including proofreading, line editing, copy editing, and developmental editing.

My specialty is in developmental editing for non-fiction, specifically medical and health-related memoir, and personal essay. Maybe you're a doctor looking to write a memoir about your journey or an individual with a chronic condition wanting to share a personal essay with the world. I can help you shape your story.

Whether you have a very rough draft or something more solid, I can guide you compassionately through so you feel confident when querying or pitching. And as someone who has successfully pitched to various outlets, including Healthline and WaPo, I can also help you craft and develop your pitch.

A bit about my process:

• I believe strongly in guiding writers and never putting words in their mouths. 

• My developmental editing process involves moving pieces around and inserting comments and suggestions, but in the end, it's your piece and your story.

• Working with me is a back-and-forth, collaborative process. 

I also offer consultations, so feel free to reach out if you're still in the brainstorming stage and need help to solidify your path.

And while health-related pieces (including mental health) are my niche, my background in history, recreation studies, and older adult programming means I'm also comfortable with other non-fiction topics.
